We’re hiring!
Monday, June 21st, 2010

Yes! If you are detailed oriented, speak and write fluent Cantonese, English (Mandarin a plus) proficient in Excel and Word and have either banqueting or events related experience, we are hiring an Assistant Events Coordinator for a full time position immediately! There will be a three month probation but if you make it, you can be a part of a small but dynamic team organizing some of the best weddings in Hong Kong and Asia. If you’re able to work alone as well as part of a team and interested, please send your CV and a letter explaining why you think you are perfect for the job.

Bear in mind, wedding planning is not as glamorous as depicted in the movies, its long hours in front of a computer and unsociable since most weddings take place at the weekends but no two days are alike!

If you can start immediately, email your letter, CV and expected salary to info@theweddingco.hk.

All information will be kept confidential and used for recruitment purposes only.

YSL Edition Soir
Sunday, June 6th, 2010

I caught a glimpse into the world of YSL the other night at the ‘Botanica’ themed dinner hosted by the French Chamber of Commerce. The highlight of the dinner (apart from the funny and talented emcee, Margaret Kutt) was no doubt the fashion show featuring the beautifully tailored capsule collection of Edition Soir by YSL. The elegant collection also offers a semi haute couture experience, you have a choice of colours, fabrics and embroideries so you end up with a gown that’s yours and yours alone. The entire process takes three months to complete so there’s still time for the many end of the year weddings and events!

Edition Soir is available at the Yves Saint Laurent boutique at Alexandra House in Central.

Vintage Dom Perignon Rosé Gold
Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

A methuselah (equivalent to 8 standard sized bottles) of the highly prized 1996 Dom Perignon Rosé Gold, was recently sold for £35,000 of HK$ 420,000 ( well..with the exchange rate now its more like $390,000) at the bar of of a top London hotel after a gala movie screening. It broke the record for the most expensive bottle of wine sold at a British bar. The buyer, thought to be a Russian billionaire, left a £10,625 tip in addition to the £4,375 service charge! Wow.

A Family Affair
Sunday, December 20th, 2009

My husband’s sister married her childhood sweetheart last night! It was beautiful, touching, romantic and full of love. Both the bride and groom (and half the guests) cried tears of joy as they were pronounced husband and wife. I am so happy for them both but must admit it was hard to fully relax and enjoy the evening as I was in my ‘planner’ mode!

The intimate ceremony and dinner that followed was held at the Poolhouse at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. The hotel staff went above and beyond with their impeccable service. Mirrored table tops reflected the contemporary red and white arrangements with rose petals and candles galore. Speeches from the heart, a great DJ (thank you Janva!), a brilliant MC and lots of dancing… we all felt the love.

With only weeks to go before Christmas, its a busy time all around so we appreciate everything they have done to get the site up!
